You should be able to achieve your desired network setup using the E1200 router. Don’t run the setup cd as it will detect if you have internet connection or not. Just set it up manually. Hardwire it temporarily to one of your laptops and access the setup page from there. Once on the setup page, you just need to setup the wireless settings. E1200 Wireless-N Router N300 In its class it is fit for the purpose I have used it for, that is an access point and switch for the kitchen. It was a bit clunky setting it up.
